The Feed Five: October 3rd
The Feed Five is a weekly round-up of some fabulous handmade goods, DIY projects and tutorials from the indie & crafting blogospheres that are not to be missed. Settle back and get your feed on!

Can I get an “Amen” and a “Hallelujah” from the choir, please? The Once Upon A Time card from Blue Barnhouse is sooooo apropos right now, you have no idea. I especially like the bit about always having a clean house. But the sex is nice too. ;-) (Via Rare Bird Finds)

I’m loving this super-sweet Paper Doll Skirt by Duchess von Dudik. The boy & girl appliqués are done in an oriental floral print with gorgeous color combos that really ramp up the retro appeal. (Via Blooming Lily)

I am eternally fascinated by geishas, so this gorgeous hand-printed gocco greeting card by Asking For Trouble really caught my eye. I’ll definitely be perusing their collection in detail! (Via Cuteable)

The kitschy, cute, utterly irresistible Saint Barbie Necklace by Venus Flytrap Jewels just makes me grin. The vintage beads in classic “Barbie pink” are the perfect touch! (Via Rare Bird Finds)

Not quite indie, but these gorgeous (and very affordable) Glass Copper Pumpkins by Z Gallerie would be the ideal way to add some classy autumn spice to your home. If they only came filled with candy … One can dream! (Via Coveiter)
Wicked Cool!
Happy October, all! I’m excited to share a pleasant surprise that I received last night when I shimmied down the magazine aisle at Borders and picked up a Venus Zine to peruse with my chilled coffee concoction:

See that circled goody in the lower left corner? That’s an Ultra Intensity Eyeliner from my own indie beauty company, J.Lynne Cosmetics! *Does mental happy dance to a kickin’ Jamiroquai tune.*
I had been contacted a few months back and was asked to send a few high-res photos of my eyeliners, but I hadn’t really thought about it since. Talk about a treat! It just goes to show that you don’t necessarily need a PR company, professional photography, lots of marketing know-how, etc. to create some buzz. Those things are a great help, absolutely, but I think a grass-roots approach can really go far, especially when you’re first starting out. I’m not sure where the Venus Zine gal heard about us, but we received some great blog mentions earlier this year, so those certainly could have contributed. Which is a perfect time to remind everyone that I’m always happy to accept emails and submissions from the indie designers and artisans out there. Don’t be shy, get in touch!
There have been some interesting personal-life developments lately, so please bear with me while my posts get back to a more frequent status. I hope everyone is having a sweet October so far!

Southern California’s Catia Chien is an accomplished painter and talented artist who mixes whimsical imagery with rich colors, creating a style that’s both vibrant and serene. She’s currently focusing her talents on the children’s book market, comic book anthologies, and galleries — but you can snag prints, postcards, and stationary sets through her website. Catia’s beautiful work is not to be missed!

The Daily Bite: I Like You
In honor of Melbourne, Australia (the hometown of Kelly & Sean, who are sponsoring our current Indie Giveaway), today’s Daily Bite comes from another fabulous Melbourne designer. Meet I Like You!

Everything from I Like You is reversible, which I love (double the pleasure, half the cost!) I’m especially fond of the reversible hats — which come in a number of fun and fashionable combinations — and the reversible hood scarves, which almost make me pine for cool weather again. Almost.
♥ Reversible Hats ($45)
♥ Reversible Hood Scarves ($85)
Indie Giveaway: Bucket O’ Thought + LoungeKat
What could be sweeter than an Indie Giveaway? How about a contest collaboration from two talented artists all the way in Melbourne, Australia! International indie fans and domestic ones alike, this artistically-delicious giveaway should not be missed!

Kate McInnes and Sean Kelly are the creative and artistic forces behind LoungeKat and Bucket O’ Thought. Their unique and edgy artwork has been used for various different applications such as skateboards, t-shirts, limited edition prints and custom toys. I especially love Kate’s fabulously tongue-in-chick take on candy hearts with her True Hate Button Pack. Nothing quite says “get out of my face” like wearing a button that says Go 2 Hell or Fuk’Yr Self. Brilliant! ;-)
